Magic seeds
35x35cm Acrylic on wood 2020 If you've ever fed birds in a park, you're probably familiar with how, once they've gathered up their courage, they can go wild, circling, landing on your hands and head. The heroine of my painting loves this avian whirlwind and never misses the opportunity to befriend another flock. But this time, something unexpected happened. While searching for something else to feed the birds, she accidentally reached into the wrong pocket of her bag. Instead of grains, she found magical seeds, gifted to her by a mysterious passerby she'd helped on her way there. But she only discovered their magic after the pigeons, sparrows, and crows began to transform into truly incredible creatures. Multicolored feathers replaced the unremarkable attire of city birds; they grew many times larger, some sprouting extra heads or incredible beaks. Within minutes, the enormous birds had even blocked out the sky, and thousands of enormous eyes of never-before-seen beasts were staring down at her. Fortunately, there was no malice in them.
