Eyes of the Dragon

He's lived so long that he's forgotten he was ever part of this world, but an inexplicable feeling in his enormous heart draws him back each time. Perhaps such incomprehensible creatures are also subject to nostalgia. Appearing unexpectedly, as always, he immediately gathered a small retinue of young dragons. The younger ones circle the glittering spikes with delight, but don't fly too close, keeping a respectful distance, peering curiously into the glowing eyes, each of which is a portal to one of the worlds the giant frequents most often. Having seen his fill of his native seas, rivers, and mountains, he will move on, on his endless journey through countless universes.
